I’ve searched high and low for the perfect earbuds for my iPhone. Honestly, I prefer large headphones. They just more comfortable, and they offer a sort of noise isolation that I rarely find can be achieved by earbuds. With a phone, however, earbuds make sense. They’re far more convenient, less obtrusive, and – with recent developments – able to provide everything from a mic for phone calls to volume control on the headset.
With Zagg’s Z.buds, I finally have been able to retire my giant, clunky headphones. The convenience is amazing; the Z.buds go beyond the simple mic and volume control. There’s a button on the headset made especially for the iPhone. If you press it when a phone call is coming through, it will pick up the phone call. If you press it when a phone call is NOT coming through, it will turn on your iPod.
The main time I use my earbuds is when I’m driving. For times like this, the Z.buds are amazing. I don’t feel comfortable reaching for my phone to talk while driving, but pressing a button by my ear? I can do that. The volume is controlled by a wheel, which is a much better alternative that the typical button controls. If I need to control volume when I’m occupied, turning a wheel is a simple movement. I can’t begin to discuss what a great alternative this is.
The volume is amazing. The sound is rich and strong, which is extremely important when you consider that your iPhone is also your iPod. The noise isolating features work amazing, but my personal favorite feature of the Zagg Z.buds is the noise canceling mic. When I’m taking professional phone calls, I hate when there are noises in the background. With the Zagg Z.buds, I finally have a solution. It may not be perfect, but I have to turn my music up pretty loud before the person I’m talking to will notice.
The Z.buds are on a rope instead of a wire, making them difficult to tangle. There are also several adjustable “spot holders” that you can use to prevent further tangling. The Z.bud rope is heavy duty; it’s pretty difficult to pull the earbuds out of the jack on your iPhone. In addition, the rope is really long, allowing for extra flexibility.
