iPhone App Review – GrooveMaker Trance

If you’ve ever had dreams of creating your own music, there’s an app for that. The GrooveMaker series puts you in the DJ seat and allows you to mix and create music to your own specifications. It doesn’t take a ton of talent to get started, and you’ll be creating something awesome in no time.

GrooveMaker Trance is the latest installment to the GrooveMaker series. This application provides you with 5 basic songs to begin with, each of which have a very unique feel to them. The songs included are Electricity, The Ring, Power Grid, Vast, and Familiar Jungle. If you listen to trance or techno music, you will realize that all five songs fit the genre beautifully.

Your first step is to select a song to work with. If you’d like more songs, additional packs are available for purchase. There are over 300 loops available, so your options are nearly limitless at this point. In addition, you can mix and randomize loops for even more options. You have full control to create these loops, altering everything from the Bass to the Tempo. Add guitar riffs, drum beats,  lines, leads, pads – the options are phenomenal! You can create high quality, full length tracks using your iPhone – just try to tell me that technology isn’t amazing.

Once you’ve created the perfect song, you can save the file. You can then listen to it within the application, recall past songs you have created, or save the file as a high quality .WAV file on your computer. It’s a great feeling to know that you mixed and created the song on your own. The files are fun to listen to, and I’m really enjoying my own personal mixes.

Anyone who has an interest in music will find this application both impressive and entertaining. The possibilities are truly limitless; having this application is kind of like carrying a music production studio in your back pocket. I’d definitely recommend the GrooveMaker series for anyone; it’s one of the most entertaining applications I’ve ever tried.
